Inspiration

Fairies are always part of children’s literature. They bring this magical touch, which is always part of our early years. I always wanted to knit a fairy sweater for my daughter Zoe, where the fairy was not only shaped by color change, but also by texture and lace work.

In the pattern you will find the instructions to make the sweater from size 12 – 24 months up to size 6-7 years.

The construction of the fairies is accompanied by a step-by-step video. Most of it is done while knitting and then at the end certain details like the legs and arms are embroidered. I also accompany you here with a video.

The construction of the garment itself is very simple, but without a doubt the fairies will create the special touch.

I recommend that you have a beginner-intermediate level of knitting.

Construction notes

The sweater is knitted flat from bottom to top. The front and back are knitted separately.
After knitting the sleeves, sew the parts together I recommend you
to work the back fist, since it is only worked in Reverse st st, so that when you work
the front, you can focus on the fairies.

Difficulty Level

Intermediate The main complication is the fairies, which are explained step by step with videos and graphics.

What do you need to know?

To knit and purl, simple increase and decrease, double decrease from the front and back. f you have not tried any of these techniques, you will learn them with this pattern. The more complicated techniques and the Fairy knitting are supported by videos.

Gauge

In a 10 x 10 cm (4 in x 4 in) square you should have 20 sts and 27 rows. Knit the swatch with stockinette stitch and block it. For the swatch, knit a bigger square of around 15 x 15 cm (6 in x 6 in) in order to measure the gauge in the middle. Knit the swatch in reverse stockinette stitch. Knit the first and last 3 sts in garter stitch to prevent the sample from curling. It is very important to block it, since the pattern has some lace work and will measure different after blocking.
