The Chinook Winds knitting pattern<\/strong> is a stunning design that was originally published in PomPom Quarterly \u2013 Autumn 2023<\/strong>, and is now available as a standalone PDF pattern<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This hand-knitted pullover<\/strong> features an eye-catching lace motif<\/strong>, beautifully combined with bobble stitches<\/strong> and fringes<\/strong> that add rich texture and movement. It\u2019s a truly special garment that will stand out in your handmade wardrobe.<\/p>\n

Design & Construction<\/h3>\n

The pullover is worked seamlessly from the bottom up<\/strong>, starting in the round. This allows you to get comfortable with the lace pattern before working the front and back sections separately.<\/p>\n

The pattern includes instructions for 10 sizes<\/strong>:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), corresponding to finished bust measurements of 91 to 181 cm \/ 36 to 71 inches<\/strong> after blocking.
It\u2019s designed to be worn with approx. 20 cm \/ 8 inches of positive ease<\/strong>, but you can also choose your size based on a sweater you already own and love the fit of.<\/p>\n

    Inspiration<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Warm winds coming off the mountains into the prairie are known as Chinook winds, bringing with them a distinct, delicious smell. Esti Juango was thinking of the wind when she designed this sweater; imagining it moving through the fringe and the spaces of the openwork, bringing it to life. As she notes, \u201cThe wind is a messenger, it transports seeds and leaves, and in that way is part of the cycle of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Worked bottom up, Chinook Winds includes bobbles and texture among arrow-like lace. These triangular interludes speak to a transition between the ancestral and the Western, expanding and merging to become one.<\/p>\n
