Lacework adds texture to garments and creates unique pieces that will stand out in your closet. This design is inspired by simplicity. The body starts without elastic and subtle lines of lacework make up the body as a whole.

Luz sweater is an ideal knitting pattern to get you started in the lacework patterns that let the light through the garments, create textures and do not go unnoticed.

If there is one thing we knitters know for sure, it is that knitting is part of the light in our lives. Luz means light in Spanish. It is our secret that unites us in ways that are sometimes difficult to explain.

It is always there, in the good times and as a companion that helps us sustain the bad times.

The construction is simple, starting at the bottom in circular knitting, familiarizing yourself with the openwork before reaching the separation of the front and back.

What does it mean to knit a garment?

A garment knitted by you is much more than just something to wear. It accumulates many sensations that will accompany you when you wear it: where, when with whom you knitted it, where you bought the wool, what you learned when you knitted it etc.

Construction notes:

Sweater is worked bottom up. Start working in the round up to the armhole and continue working flat for the back and front. Pick up sts for the sleeve and work in the round up to the cuff. Pick up st for the collar and work ribbing.
Pattern is divided in following sections:

  1. Body up to armhole
  2. Back
  3. Front
  4. Sleeves
  5. Collar

Difficulty Level

Advanced beginner.
Pattern has been tech edited and tested.

What do you need to know?

To knit, purl, make increases and decreases. To work flat and in the round. Support videos are also provided.

Material

  • Yarn: DROPS Big Merino– 50gr; 75 m (82 yds). 100% wool.
  • Amount: 11 (12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23) skeins of 50 gr
  • Total in m: 825 (900, 975, 1125, 1200, 1350, 1425, 1500, 1575, 1725) m
  • Total in yds: 902 (984,1066,1230,1312,1476,1558,1640,1722,1886) yds
  • Other yarn suggestions provided
  • 5 mm (US 8) circular needles
  • 4,5 mm (US 7) circular needles for the collar

Gauge

In a 10×10 cm (4×4 in) gauge you should have 18 sts and 22 rounds worked in the round in lace pattern.
