The Nora tee is a knitting pattern to knit this openwork top that will become a closet essential. A garment with soul that will take you back to your childhood and will make you feel proud of having knitted it.

Awaken sensations

A garment knitted by you is much more than just something to wear. It accumulates many sensations that will accompany you when you wear it: where, when with whom you knitted it, where you bought the wool, what you learned when you knitted it etc. Also, sometimes, before starting to knit it, there are designs that already convey a message even before knitting it.

I want to describe literally what one of the testers, @melocoton_crochet told me about this garment “Do you know where your sweater takes me? To my childhood when I used to watch my grandmother knit, with the olive wood needles that my grandfather made for her. I was fascinated watching my grandmother and her sisters knitting. That garment is a closet staple, but one of those that touches the soul”.

Above all, this pattern includes a lot of step-by-step videos so that you feel accompanied in those more challenging stitches. It is a very detailed pattern with charts, following a row by row description of the charts.

In the knitting pattern you will find the instructions to knit it in 8 sizes. 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) with final measurement of the tee after blocking of 86 (96, 106, 116, 126, 136, 146, 156) cm/ 34.5 (38.5, 42.5, 46.5, 50.5, 54.5, 58.5, 62.5)” . A positive ease of 10 cm/ 4” is recommended. You can measure a top you really like and choose the nearest size.

This pattern is part of my Mini&Me knitting collection in which you will have the version adapted for the little ones.  I You can check the girl’s dress version here.

Recommendations for enyoing Nora tee lace knitting pattern

I do recommend that you have an intermediate level of knitting, so you don’t get frustrated. If you are a very beginner, you may find it frustrating and that is the last thing I would like.

The pattern has been tech edited to check for any mistakes and tested by several testers to make sure they could follow it without any problems. You can check out their results on my IG profile (have a look here) and also on the projects that are on Ravelry.

Construction notes:

The top is knitted top down and consists of the following sections:

  1. Front to the armhole. Start at the front, knitting the left side and then the right side while shaping the neck. Then join the front in one piece and start with the central openwork, while completing the height of the armhole.
  2. Back to the armhole. The backside is knitted, in a similar way to the front, until the armhole height is reached.
  3. Joining body, circular work. From the armhole, work the body in the round until you reach the desired length. As you can try it on, you can adjust it to the desired length.
  4. Finishing. The neck edge is finished with an i-cord, picking up the stitches. Knit the lacework on the sides. They are joined to the body as they are knitted, facilitating the final finishing.
