UDA SWEATER

Inspiration

The openwork creates unique garments, with textures, hollows, reliefs, which invite me to experiment and to show off in the garments I design. It also carries an intrinsic rhythm, as if it were a music piece. While knitting you will observe the repetition of certain numbers that will guide you and turn the knitting experience into a small mantra.

Sizes

1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) with final measurement of the sweater after blocking of bust width of 90 (100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180) cm/ 35.5 (39.25, 43.25, 47.25, 51.25, 55, 59, 63, 67, 70.75)”. A positive ease of 10-20 cm/ 4-8” is recommended.

Uda sweater openwork knitting pattern. Dive into the fascinating world of openwork and knit this sweater that will not go unnoticed by anyone.

In the knitting pattern you will find the instructions to knit it in ten sizes  with final measurement of the tee a between 90 and 180 cm / 35.5 and  70.75 in. You can measure a top you really like and choose the nearest size.

This pattern comes after having knitted the summer version of the Uda top, which you liked and knitted so much. I wanted to extend this openwork along the length of a sweater. If you want to take a look at the summer version you can do it here.

It is a very visual pattern, as it is fully graphed by sizes. On a single sheet you will have all the stitches to knit. Additionally, a row-by-row description of the chart are included if you prefer to read each row.

Recommendations to knit Uda sweater openwork knitting pattern

I do recommend that you have an intermediate level of knitting, so you don’t get frustrated. The lace is formed with increases and decreases on the right side and the wrong side, so if you are a very beginner, you may find it frustrating and that is the last thing I would like.

The pattern has been tech edited to check for any mistakes and tested by several testers to make sure they could follow it without any problems.

Construction notes:

Sweater is worked bottom up. Start working in the round up to the armhole and continue working flat for the back and front. Pick up sts for the sleeve and work down to cuff. Pick up st for the collar and work i-cord edge.

What do you need to know?

To knit, purl, make increases and decreases on right side and wrong side. To work in the round and flat. The front is charted and includes row by row description. Support videos are provided for some stitches and techniques.

Materials

  • Yarn: Pastoreta de Xolla wool– 50gr; 200 m (218 yds). 100% wool.
  • Amount: 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10) skeins of 50 gr
  • Total in m: 800 (1000, 1000, 1200, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1600, 1800, 2000) m
  • Total in yds: 872 (1090, 1090, 1308, 1308, 1526, 1744, 1744, 1962, 2180) yds.
  • Other yarn suggestions
  • 4 mm (US 6) circular needles
  • 3,5 mm (US 5) circular needles for the collar
  • 4 mm hook for the bobbles
  • Markers
  • Stitch holder or waste yarn
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge

In a 10×10 cm (4×4 in) gauge you should have 18 sts and 29 rounds worked in the round in lace pattern.
