Inspiration
Amari is a design created for my mother’s special birthday. She chose the yarn colors and entrusted the design to me. It plays with lace, cables, and bobbles, suggesting botanical shapes and motifs to create a truly unique garment.

Amari Sweater Knitting Pattern

A mohair and silk sweater combining lace, cables and bobbles to create a richly textured garment full of thoughtful details.

Amari was designed for my mother’s special birthday. She chose the yarn colours and trusted me to bring the design to life. The result is a distinctive sweater featuring botanical-inspired motifs and an unusual construction that begins at the back and shoulders.

A project to enjoy stitch by stitch, watching the different motifs come together as the garment takes shape.

What makes Amari Sweater special

  • A combination of lace, cables and bobbles.
  • Textured, botanical-inspired motifs.
  • A construction that starts at the back and shoulders.
  • Detailed charts to follow the stitch patterns.
  • Professionally tech-edited and test-knitted pattern.

Test knitter feedback

During the test knit, knitters highlighted Amari’s distinctive construction, the finished garment and how enjoyable it is to watch the stitch pattern take shape.

“It is easier than it looks, and the pattern guides you very clearly.”

“It is a beautiful garment and very enjoyable to knit.”

“The stitch repeat becomes intuitive and, after a little practice, the bobbles are no longer a problem.”

Amari requires attention, particularly when following the charts, but offers an engaging knitting experience full of detail.

The yarn: Beta by Bilobila

Amari is knitted in Beta by Bilobila, a blend of superkid mohair and silk that gives the fabric a lightweight feel, a soft finish and a delicate halo. It enhances the textures and brings depth to the lace, cables and bobbles.

If you would like to knit Amari using the same yarn as my sample, you can find Beta on the Bilobila website.

Is this pattern for you?

Amari is an intermediate pattern for knitters who enjoy lace and textured stitch patterns, and love following a design as it gradually takes shape.

You should be comfortable with knit and purl stitches, increases and decreases, and knitting in the round. If you enjoy paying attention to details and watching different motifs come together, Amari could be a very rewarding project.

Construction notes

The pullover is started at the back neck and then increased to the full width of the back. After, those stitches are picked up along the sloped shoulders for the fronts. The pieces are joined at the underarm and the body is knitted in one piece in the round. The sleeve stitches are then picked up from the body and worked in the round. Stitches for the collar are picked up and worked with an elastic rib.
